The Oxford Branch of Samaritans was established in 1963. Its volunteers have been trained to the same high standards as all Samaritans. They come from all walks of life and are of all ages.
All are people who give up twenty hours a month to be available to callers and to provide emotional support to people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
Samaritans have no message. We do not preach, we do not sell. We are here to offer a sympathetic, non-judgmental ear to people in need.
Available 24 hours a day, we offer confidential support to callers who often have nowhere else to turn.
